How to Connect to Snapshot

Governance voting is an important milestone in the roadmap and platform decentralization plan of Iskra. To participate in it once it goes live on March 30, 2023, users must be familiar with how to use Snapshot as it is a necessary step in the voting process.

If you don’t have a MetaMask wallet yet or haven’t connected the Klaytn chain to your MetaMask, you can check out this guide.

Update as of April 28, 2023

Starting April 27, 2023, sISK has become transferrable and users can now use Snapshot without importing their Iskra Wallet private key into MetaMask when they transfer their sISK.

Snapshot is a decentralized voting system that allows users to create proposals and vote off-chain. The platform allows users to choose from multiple voting systems and use ERC-20s or NFTs to calculate voting power.

You have to connect your MetaMask to Snapshot to cast a vote and can do this in two (2) ways:

Option 1: Import your Iskra Wallet PK that holds your sISK into your MetaMask wallet that’s connected to Snapshot in order to calculate your voting power. Click here to check or proceed to the article below for a step-by-step guide.

Option 2: Send sISK to your MetaMask wallet connected to  Snapshot to calculate your voting power. Click here to check.

Please note that you will no longer receive staking rewards for the sISK you transferred and your CP in the Iskra portal will be deducted accordingly.

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how you can use Snapshot. Before you do so, please make sure you have access to the Snapshot website, your Iskra wallet, and your MetaMask wallet.

  1. Extract your Iskra wallet private key by signing in to the Iskra portal. Once logged in, click the account icon, go to Setting, and select Wallet.

  2. Click Export to get your Iskra wallet private key.
  3. Once you have your Iskra wallet private key, you need to import it to MetaMask. To do this, open your MetMask app, click the account icon, and select Import Account.

  4.  You will also need to add sISK to your MetaMask wallet to see how much sISK you hold.

    Token Symbol:
    sISK
    Token Contract Address: 0xb30d86d84f5b2df67ef962be0c6cf4c39901d416
  5. Go to Snapshot at https://snapshot.org/#/ and connect your MetaMask wallet. Please double check and verify that the URL is correct before connecting. You can also open Snapshot right from your MetaMask by selecting the browser tab from the MetaMask app and entering the Snapshot URL. You can read more about that here.

  6. Join the Iskra DAO spaces. There are two spaces to vote in, and each space has different voting privileges.

    IskraDAO_KOL
    View: all sISK holders
Vote: KOLIskraDAO_ALL – This is where you vote on whether to run the proposal. All ISKRA DAO members can vote.
    View: all sISK holders
    Vote: all sISK holders

  7.  Confirm the proposal and select a voting option.

📌 When you click the shortcut next to the number in the snapshot, you can see a specific point in time (the block number where the proposal was created) and your voting power is calculated based on the assets you had in your wallet at that time. If a user acquires required tokens after the proposal has been created, they will not be taken into account for their voting power calculation.
    📌 Required Token = sISK
📌 You can vote for a choice and leave a comment of up to 140 characters (or a link to a URL describing your opinion).

  8. Click Sign to proceed. This is an off-chain transaction and doesn’t require gas fees.

  9. Confirm the pop-up that indicates voting is complete. Please note that you can edit choices during the voting period.

  10. Check the results after voting ends. For more information on how to use Snapshot, check out the Snapshot FAQs.

Snapshot Error Messages

These are error messages you might encounter in case you don’t meet the voting qualifications for each space.

Cause: No voting power at the time the snapshot was taken ( when the proposal was registered) (not enough sISK to vote)
