Iskra Migration: Moving Iskra’s Hub Chain to Base

We’re thrilled to announce that Iskra will migrate its hub chain to Base in the second quarter of 2024.

This is a big move where Base will provide technical and gas fee support, and sets into motion the several milestones that Iskra has planned for the year ahead.

This strategic decision to migrate to Base also takes into consideration the different factors that are monumental to Iskra’s long-term growth, including the ability to scale, community support, and cost efficiency among others.

Earlier this year, we unveiled Iskra’s 2024 Roadmap that highlighted our focus to scale the project to new heights – and our migration to Base is just the beginning.

Why Base

Iskra first collaborated with Base last year when we joined their Onchain Summer campaign as one of the builders and launched our Web3 battle RPG ClashMon: Ignition on Base.

This year, the migration of our main hub to Base is a significant step to help Iskra scale through better accessibility, and enable users to seamlessly onboard to onchain gaming

We believe that Ethereum and its surrounding L2 and L3 ecosystems are the perfect parameters for Web3 gaming innovation to thrive most and Base is our best option to leverage this opportunity because of Coinbase product integrations that make it very easy for users to get onchain, and Base’s established and trusted position in the industry.

To narrow it down, here are the main reasons why Iskra is migrating to Base:

Aligned Vision – Iskra and Base share the same vision of bringing the next billion users onchain. We believe that gaming is the easiest and most accessible way for users to be onboarded to Web3 and accelerate the adoption of Web3 gaming due to the universal appeal of games that resonates with everyone.
Greater Access – By working together with Base, we want to amplify the reach of every game we release by tapping into the collective communities and millions of users of both Base and Coinbase, while bringing seamless Web3 gaming experience to every gamer across the globe. With our migration to Base, this also means that Iskra will have access to Coinbase’s developer tools to make building on Base as easy as possible.
Cost Efficiency – As an Ethereum L2, transactions on Base cost significantly less than those on the mainnet while still taking advantage of Ethereum’s security. With fast transactions and low gas fees, Base is a practical choice for Iskra as we strive to make every game and service we launch accessible to everyone.
Interoperability – Building on their vision of being a decentralized platform, Base is deployed as an L2 on the open-source OP Stack. The goal? A superchain that is interoperable among rollups and L2 and L3 layers – something that Iskra aims to leverage for a seamless Web3 gaming experience among our users.

Iskra’s Positive Impact on Base

Iskra is a Web3 gaming platform founded by a team of IT and gaming veterans from firms, such as Tencent, LINE, NHN, Netmarble, and Nexon, as well as Web3 pioneers, such as LINE Blockchain, KRUST/Klaytn, Iconloop, and WEMIX.

Iskra’s deployment on Base enables Iskra game fans to experience the ease and low fees of Base, and for Base users to discover and experience Iskra games to continue building on the success of Onchain Summer.

Future Plans

Iskra’s migration to Base is just the beginning. We have several major milestones lined up throughout 2024, and we couldn’t be more excited to roll them out in the coming months.
